Forest Management Techniques

Catalog description
In this practicum, students will learn how to set up sampling plots, measure a variety of forest attributes including stand structure and composition, calculate growth rates and biomass, and determine merchantability of trees using equipment and techniques common in natural resource management. Students will also develop the skills to interpret, present, and develop management recommendations using data collected during the class. Chainsaw and felling safety will also be offered in this course. Prerequisites: ESM109 (may be taken concurrently) or consent of instructor. (F)
