Catalog description
Students will study the origins and development of the varieties of the English language from Anglo-Saxon to present forms of English as a world language. Methods of study are: 1) a structural approach to language forms; and 2) a socio-historical approach to problems of meaning and communication rising from language change and variety. (Sp)
