Writing Seminar in Prose and Poetry

Catalog description
Students will gain instruction and practice in preparing their portfolios of creative writing. Portions of the class will follow a workshop format, and students may choose to work either in prose or poetry. We will be working from the writing you have developed independently and in other classes as we learn how to work and think like professionals. We will polish our portfolios of writing and investigate possible publication outlets by examining the literary magazine world. In this class, we will learn how to think like writers and editors, how to work like writers and editors, how to read like writers and editors. Prerequisite: ENGL 262 or 368 or 369 or instructor consent or experience as a teacher of writing and of senior standing. (Sp)
