Catalog description

This course teaches how to evaluate the production management of a commercial dairy farm in the River Falls vicinity. Areas of evaluation will include feeding the adult herd and replacements, reproduction, genetics, milk quality, facility usage, cow comfort, and other facets of managing a dairy herd. Students will use farm visits and course work to complete an evaluation of the farm and then present their findings and suggested recommendations to the farmers. Prerequisites: DASC 306 and (DASC 336 or ANSC 433) (Sp).
