The course explores the causes of crime from a number of theoretical traditions in the social sciences. Specific schools of thought addressed in the course include utilitarianism, positivism, social ecology, social structural approaches, social process (learning and socialization), social control, labeling, conflict, and feminism. Prerequisite: CRIM 130 (As offered).
