Data Engineering and Management

Catalog description

This course introduces the concepts, techniques and practices of data engineering and data management. Students will gain an understanding of the data engineering life cycle, the data engineering ecosystem, the data models and data store technologies (relational and non-relational), the data repositories such as data warehouses, data marts, and data lakes and the issues of security, governance and management of data infrastructure within organizations. Students will learn hands-on skills with building data pipelines that support data flows into and out of these data repositories and how these data repositories can be designed and built. Prerequisites: CIDS 333 (Sp)
