In this course, students will be introduced to the microscopic anatomy and organization of the four primary tissue types and how these tissue types are organized to form organs and organ systems in humans. The course will emphasize the structural and functional relationships of tissues, organs, and organs systems, and as well present histology in relation to principles of cell biology, physiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology. The course is designed to give students interested in pursuing medical, veterinary, and research careers a solid foundation in modern histology. The laboratory portion of the course will include a traditional microscopy-based lab and a computer assisted interactive learning lab. Prerequisites: Biol 240; Chem 111 and 112 are recommended. (Sp)
