Teaching Techniques for Young Learners

Catalog description
This course will examine the characteristics of the young learner (4K through grade5) from a whole-child perspective with emphasis on children's physical, language, and cognitive development and needs. Learning theories as applied to this age range will be explored, developmentally appropriate curricula in all content areas will be developed with the deliberate integration of intentional play, expressive arts, social-emotional learning, diversity, and authentic assessment. The course includes a focus on classroom management and conflict resolution skills.
