AI Engineering

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the emerging discipline of AI Engineering, which applies software engineering principles to the design, development, and deployment of artificial intelligence systems for real-world problem solving. Topics include modern AI architectures based on large language models (LLMs), intelligent agents, vector databases, workflow orchestration frameworks, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers for standardized AI system integration. Emphasis is placed on the full AI system lifecycle, including prompt engineering, function calling, multi-agent collaboration, and deployment. Ethical and responsible AI engineering practices are integrated throughout the course. Students gain hands-on experience designing and building AI-enabled software systems using contemporary AI development tools.
