The American Presidency

This course is devoted to the one American political institution receiving perhaps the most attention: the presidency. Despite this attention, the presidency is the least understood of the three branches, especially among political scientists. In this course we will endeavor to think more broadly and systematically about the presidency in this course, examining opportunities for presidential success and failure that move beyond the personality traits of individual occupants.
