Physics for Video Games

Catalog description
Key physics concepts that show up in simple video games. 2D motion with and without acceleration, inertia and force, center of mass, collisions and explosions, relative velocity. Concepts will be illustrated in hands-on laboratory exercises and their application will be demonstrated by coding simplified versions of classic arcade games. No prior coding experience is necessary, students will be taught elementary coding and examples will be provided to teach important techniques. Components: Laboratory, Class GE: NSWL Nat Sci + Lab Prereqs/Coreqs: P: MATH 15 OR MATH 1530 OR mathematics proficiency level 15+ OR COMPUTER 1430 Typically Offered: Occasionally
