Catalog description

Advanced topics in the design of machines and mechanical systems. Topics may include threaded fasteners, welded joints, journal bearings, helical, bevel, and worm gears, clutches, brakes, belts, flywheels, gyroscopes, governors, and/or dynamic force analysis. Additionally, topics such as optimization, geometric design, tolerancing, reliability, economics, and sensitivity analysis will be discussed in machine element design. The course will include at least one project culminating in a final working prototype. Components: Class Prereqs/Coreqs: P: "C-" or better in MECHENG 3330 . Typically Offered: Occasionally
