Catalog description

This is a capstone course for history majors that will examine the nature of the modern historical profession and historiographical trends, beginning with the emergence of history as a professional discipline in the 19th century, and tracing from there the subsequent development of major schools of historical thought and method. Additionally, the course will provide students with extensive training in proper methods of historical research and citation, culminating with the completion of a major research paper.
