Literature and Science

Catalog description

The sciences and the humanities are often positioned as two entirely separate knowledge domains. This course aims to bridge that gap by examining the intersections between literature and science. Students will investigate how literature engages with a variety of scientific practices and discoveries, as well as how scientific fields offers new readings of literary texts. Ultimately, the course aims to uncover the bidirectional influences of literature, culture, and science as they attempt to address the unknown.
