Victimology and Restorative Justice

Catalog description
This course focuses on the study of crime victims to include the nature, extent, and causes of crime. Emphasis will be placed on examining the principles and concepts of victimology, victimization patterns and trends, and theoretical responses to criminal victimization. Philosophies and principles of Restorative Justice will also be explored to include an analysis of the key player's roles- offender, victim, state, and community. Several restorative justice initiatives will be analyze. Students will participate in a restorative justice with a criminal justice organization. Components: Class Prereqs/Coreqs: P: CRIMLJUS 4230 or CRIMLJUS 4130 or CRIMLJUS 3530 and junior standing Typically Offered: Occasionally
