Catalog description

This course explores the correctional system in the United States, including community corrections and correctional facilities, and those who are supervised in this system. It examines the theories, philosophies and practices of corrections, and sentencing structures and their relationship to correctional objectives. The course describes the types of correctional interventions available to inmates, as well as how these interventions work to combat the challenges of reintegration for the release of system-involved individuals.
