Catalog description

This course explores advanced 3D game development with a focus on game engine design and architecture. Lecture and project-based, hands-on activities explore the core components of a game engine, including rendering pipelines, physics systems, animation, input handling, scripting, scene management, and asset pipelines. Students implement custom engine components while also gaining practical experience with industry-standard engines. Students work in teams to complete a 3D game or interactive project, applying game engine principles, advanced gameplay systems, asset integration, and software engineering best practices. Components: Class, Laboratory, Discussion Prereqs/Coreqs: P: COMPUTER 2520 and COMPUTER 3920 or instructor permission Typically Offered: Spring
