LRFD Design of Steel Structures

Catalog description

This course covers advanced analysis and design of steel structures with emphasis on the Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) method. Topics include the design of built-up members (such as plate girders), steel-concrete composite members (beams and columns), as well as advanced bolted and welded connections design. Additional failure limit states such as torsion and lateral-torsional buckling, and fire resistance of steel structures are addressed, with an introduction to performance-based approaches where appropriate.
