Catalog description

A technical elective course on design of wood and masonry structures. Code-based design of a variety of common wood and masonry elements including wood sawn and glulam beams, columns, beam columns, panels, diaphragms, and wood and masonry walls under in-plan and out-of-plan forces. Course concepts include (but are not limited to) mechanical properties of materials and incorporation of holistic design considerations such as sustainability, economy, and constructability. Components: Class Prereqs/Coreqs: P: a "C" or better in CIVILENG 3140 Typically Offered: Spring
