Catalog description

Medical microbiology focuses on pathogenic microorganisms (including bacteria, fungi, viruses, and protozoa) that can infect a human host. This course will introduce students to the biology, transmission, diagnosis, and treatment of these microbes. Topics will include host-pathogen interaction, antibiotic resistance, and disease transmission. Components: Class Prereqs/Coreqs: P: ( BIOLOGY 1350 or BIOLOGY 1650 ) and ( CHEMSTRY 1050 or CHEMSTRY 1140 or CHEMSTRY 1240 or CHEMSTRY 1450 ) or consent of instructor Typically Offered: Fall - odd year
