Catalog description

This course surveys and analyzes historical and contemporary theatre and performance forms in eastern Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, and the indigenous cultures of the Americas. Particular attention is paid to theatre's relationship to local customs and philosophies, religious practices and beliefs, political and social contexts, and global cultural exchange. CGER CP-CW Civics & Perspective: Cultures of Our World. Prerequisite: sophomore standing. Offered Fall - Even Numbered Years.
