Field Experience in Special Education (K-12)

Catalog description

This course is a field experience for teacher candidates students seeking cross-categorical special education (K-12) licensure. Teacher candidates are placed in a variety of educational settings (e.g., special education setting, inclusive setting, interim alternative educational setting) in which they observe, design, and implement various pedagogical practices with students with exceptionalities (i.e. specific learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, intellectual disabilities, etc.), and become familiar with special education teacher responsibilities. Teacher candidates are under the direct supervision of a certified special education teacher and university supervisor (course instructor). Prerequisite: EDS 402 ; SPE 300 ; concurrent enrollment in SPE 424 and SPE 455 (concurrent enrollment in other field experience courses is not permitted); admission to teacher education.
