Catalog description

This course explores the political, social, cultural, economic, and religious aspects of city life, examining the metropolis as a site of unique social worlds, identity formation, creativity, and struggle. Students investigate how the city has changed through accelerated gentrification, rising inequality, segregation, and shifting demographics. Students explore the depths of urban life to understand both its endless possibilities and its enduring social challenges. Prerequisite: CRIM 115 or SOC 110 or SOC 120 .
