In this course, students examine the politics of the countries of the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. The course evaluates the historical break with communism and subsequent political, economic, and social transformations across the region. The course also investigates theoretical and empirical reasons for these countries' divergent political and economic outcomes. Offered Alternate Years.
