Catalog description
This course provides an introduction to epidemiology as a basic science for public health, while addressing principles of data collection and analysis, critical interpretation of epidemiologic literature, and the influence of epidemiology on legal and ethical issues. The course also addresses the principles of the quantitative approach to public health. Students learn about measures of frequency and association, the design and validity of epidemiologic research, and appropriate data analysis for understanding population health. Overall, this course provides a foundation for the skills needed by public health professionals to utilize epidemiology in their work. Prerequisite: PH 200 , PH 204 , STAT 145 . Offered Fall, Spring.
