Catalog description

This course is designed to provide aesthetic experiences for students by learning to play the piano as a function of expression and provide a foundation for how to read and perform music at the keyboard. Emphasis is given to developing physical coordination of keyboard performance skills, building basic piano technique and basic keyboard theory, harmonizing melodies with given chord symbols and by ear, and reading simple piano literature in traditional music notation. Prerequisite: declared music education major. Offered Fall - Odd Numbered Years.
