The course analyzes historical transformations in Iberia and Latin America and their effects on women's and men's lives and gender relations. The relationship of gender and power is explored to understand inequities; themes include precolonial societies, colonialism, religious change, urban labor, nationalism, sexuality, and LGBTQ+ cultures.
