Catalog description
This intermediate-level English course reads primarily British and/or American literary and cultural works of the Romantic, Victorian, Pre- and Post-Civil War, Modern, Postmodern, and/or Contemporary periods. The course may address such issues as the following: the way literary and cultural works are shaped by the broader contexts in which they are produced; how such works and the interpretation of them contribute to what we make of the world; the place of difference and honoring of otherness in literature and culture; how literary and cultural theory contribute not only to expanding and deepening one's engagement with literature and culture but to living a thoughtful life. The specific time period and focus of the course varies by instructor. one of the following; ENG 200 , ENG 201 , ENG 202 , ENG 203 , ENG 204 , ENG 205 , or ENG 206 . Offered Annually.
