Introduction to Water Pollution

Catalog description

This course introduces students to the impacts of water pollution on aquatic organisms and human health. This course is a general overview of sources, transport, fate, bioaccumulation, and toxicity of water pollutants, including legacy contaminants and emerging contaminants of concern. Students gain an understanding of the principles of toxicity testing and how effects may be examined at different levels of biological organization (molecular to ecosystem). Students also learn how toxicity data can be used to regulate and reduce water pollution. Prerequisite: BIO 105 , CHM 103 . Consent of instructor. Offered Annually.
