Catalog description

Have you ever seen an artwork and thought to yourself, "A four-year-old could do that?" This class introduces the contemporary art world and considers how artists of the past thirty years have challenged our understanding of what art is and can be. Students explore the rise of postmodernism and new forms of art making, the intersection of art and social movements, issues of identity and representation, censorship, the art market, and how contemporary artists are engaging with some of the most important issues of our day. CGER HA-AA Humanities & Arts: Arts & Aesthetics. Prerequisite: junior standing. Offered Spring - Every Third Year.
