Archaeology Lab Methods

Catalog description

Taking a hands-on approach to analyzing and interpreting archaeological remains, this class integrates lectures and readings with demonstrations, experiments, and supervised laboratory projects. Students learn to identify, document, and analyze material culture including lithics, ceramics, food remains, and historic-era objects. Applications of chemical and physical analysis methods are introduced and highlight the potential for interpreting past human lifeways, adaptations to environments, and intercultural interactions. Prerequisite: ARC 100 or ARC 196 or ANT 101 . Offered Occasionally.
