Spanish in the Community

Catalog description

This service-learning course combines online academic study with practical experience in community organizations that serve Hispanic/Latinx populations. Students will complete online readings and assignments while engaging in 20–30 hours of service with, for instance, local NGOs, bilingual schools, ESL/literacy centers, or college-preparatory programs. The course is designed to deepen linguistic proficiency, intercultural competence, and awareness of social issues affecting local Spanish-speaking communities.
