Catalog description

This course will explore issues of health equity and health disparities from several perspectives. Health disparities are one way we can measure our progress toward achieving health equity. Health equity can be defined as a focus on ensuring opportunities for everyone to attain their highest level of health. Students will examine the role that systems (i.e., health, education, public health, civil, etc.) play in contributing to and addressing these disparities. The Social Determinants of Health (e.g., socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity, gender, education, geography) will provide a framework on which to explore these vulnerabilities. P: Admission to the Traditional Nursing Major; NURSING 240 , NURSING 250 , NURSING 280 , NURSING 290 Spring.
