Catalog description

Examines ways that major social institutions in the U.S. address mental illness. Institutions covered in detail include education, healthcare, and criminal justice; family, government, media, and the labor market are also examined. The course will touch on sensitive issues such as self-harm, suicide ideation/suicide, seclusion/restraint, and abuse.
