Catalog description

This course is designed to introduce various genres of young adult literature, along with critical theories that can help us to read these texts with a lens for how issues of perspective, power, and privilege are woven into narratives. In this course we will consider what constitutes young adult literature, why this genre appeals to readers who may no longer consider themselves “young,” and how we might engage with this content in ways that bring meaning to our own lived experiences.
