Veterinary Clinical Practicum

Catalog description
This course provides hands-on experience working with actual animal cases in a clinical veterinary setting. This course will expand student knowledge and build proficiency of acquired skills through task-specific exercises learned prior in the curriculum. It also links prior on-campus coursework with off-campus learning experiences providing development of increased proficiency and honing of essential skills learned in the formal instructional setting which are necessary for a career as a veterinary technician. Students will be matched to practicum sites at the discretion of the instructor. Each student is expected to attend a minimum of 240 hours at extern sites. These hours can be completed at two locations (120 hours at each site). The practicum will be monitored and reviewed by the program director or the director’s appointee.
