Catalog description

This course provides hands-on instruction in the principles and operation of horizontal directional drilling (HDD) equipment used in underground utility installation. Students will learn to set up and operate drilling systems safely, interpret bore path plans, and complete pilot bores and pullback operations according to specifications. Emphasis is placed on soil evaluation, bore path planning, fluid management, and safety protocols for avoiding underground utilities. Students will demonstrate proficiency through field-based performance evaluations using HDD simulators and equipment.
