Catalog description

This course provides a comprehensive study of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems used in heavy equipment. Students will examine the principles of refrigeration and the operation of air conditioning and heating system components, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, heaters, blowers, and control assemblies. Instruction emphasizes air management, ducting, and system controls, along with safety practices for handling refrigerants and compliance with environmental regulations. Through hands-on training, students will perform system diagnostics, pressure and performance testing, and service procedures such as leak detection, component replacement, and refrigerant recovery. Upon completion, students will be able to analyze, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems to ensure safe operation and operator comfort in heavy equipment.
