Catalog description

This course introduces students to advanced electronic systems used in modern heavy equipment, with emphasis on computer-controlled communication networks and telematics. Students will study SAE CAN-Bus standards, including communication protocols, system architecture, and diagnostic code interpretation. Instruction also covers telematics and emerging technologies that enable remote monitoring, performance tracking, and predictive diagnostics. Through hands-on training, students will learn to read and apply wiring schematics, analyze fault codes, and utilize OEM diagnostic software and service information. Upon completion, students will be able to troubleshoot electronic communication systems, interpret telematics data, and support the integration of emerging electronic technologies in heavy equipment applications.
