Catalog description

This course provides comprehensive instruction aligned with the AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code, equipping students with essential knowledge and skills in metallurgy, weld design, and weld testing. Students will explore the properties and applications of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and various alloys, with a strong emphasis on welds approved for testing by the American Welding Society. The curriculum covers the development and interpretation of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), ensuring students understand industry standards for producing quality structural welds. Through a combination of theoretical study and practical application, students will learn proper testing procedures and gain the expertise necessary to perform welds that meet AWS D1.1 code requirements, preparing them for careers in structural welding and inspection.
