Catalog description

The term "new media" was coined over 30 years ago to describe media digital in creation and/or distribution, but now virtually all media has become digital, so what are the new new media? In this class, students will explore and experiment with augmented reality, virtual reality, autonomous cars, smart homes, smart cities and beyond. Students will study works from an emerging canon of digital stories, learn about the innovative storytellers that created them, and prototype experimental stories themselves. No special hardware or coding experience is required, but a vivid imagination and curiosity about the future of media and entertainment is mandatory!
