Catalog description

This course examines major concepts, principles, and research associated with theories of human thinking, learning, motivation, and achievement. Special attention is given to the social-cultural nature of learning, the role of students' prior understandings and experiences, and factors affecting student motivation and engagement. Through coursework and fieldwork experiences, students learn to apply research-based concepts and principles in designing effective learning environments for K-12 students. Students must earn at least a B- for the course to count towards preliminary credential. Section information text: Requires Certificate of Clearance (COC).
