An examination of the institutional structure of the U.S. financial system, including the scope and effect of bank deregulation; the instruments and theoretical impact of Federal Reserve System monetary policy on the domestic and international economy. This course explores the economics of commercial banks, central banks, financial markets, and financial crises. Section information text: Pre-req: ECON 200, 201, and 205 or MATH score of 3 or higher on the math placement exam
