Catalog description

The purpose of this course is to review and analyze some of the most influential theories in education and child development. Students will explore the theories of Friedrich Fröbel, Jerome Bruner, John Dewey, and Maria Montessori. Additionally, the course will cover Jean Piaget’s Cognitive Development Theory, Lev Vygotsky’s Sociocultural Theory, Urie Bronfenbrenner’s Ecological Systems Theory, Social Learning Theory, Experiential Learning Theory, the Funds of Knowledge approach, Intersectionality Theory, Kolb's Experiential Learning Theory, and the Reggio Emilia approach.
