Catalog description

This course provides a general understanding of the history and overview of clinical mental health counseling, and the professional practice of counseling. The content covered will include basic counseling concepts, major theoretical approaches and techniques used by counselors, the process of counseling, and the various roles played by professional counselors in diverse settings. Fulfills an Advanced Topics requirement for the major. Prerequisite: Field of study, Psychology; Junior or Senior standing, or permission of instructor.
