Catalog description

This course offers an introduction to philosophy with a special emphasis on the non-Western traditions. While many introductory philosophy courses cover the philosophical tradition that stems from Greek thought, there are a number of other important multicultural contributions to the pursuit of wisdom not typically covered in the received philosophical canon. This course, therefore, will attempt to cover the metaphysics, epistemological, and ethical contributions of the Indian, Chinese, African, Jewish, Islamic, and Greek philosophical traditions.
