Catalog description

This course applies concepts of Mechanics of Materials and Material Science to the process of designing mechanical parts and systems, including a discourse of how decisions on manufacturing processes impact the final product. This course includes modeling and discussion of several fundamental manufacturing processes including casting, forming, subtractive manufacturing, and additive manufacturing processes. Discussions also cover essential methods for quantitively measuring the quality of a part. These evaluation methods include topics such as General Tolerancing, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Prerequisites: ENGR 313 , ENGR 335 . Additional course fee required: $105.
