This advanced seminar traces Christianity's development in the British Isles from pre-Christian times through the Victorian era, examining its influence on modern political-economic institutions. Students will explore missionary movements, theological controversies, and ecclesiastical change, with special emphasis on the Reformation, the Church of England, Knox's Scottish Reformation, Catholic-Protestant tensions, the Scottish Enlightenment, and the Great Disruption.
