Special Topics in Contemporary China.

Catalog description

This course examines key aspects of Chinese society, such as guanxi, collectivism, and family-centered culture, along with emerging issues shaping modern China. Focusing on political, social, economic, and cultural changes, students will explore the complex interplay of change and continuity in contemporary China, through lectures, readings, field trips, multimedia sources, and direct engagement with local communities. Prior coursework in Chinese language, history, or politics is recommended. Offered in China only. Pre or Corequisite: CHIN 334 .
