Catalog description

Introduction to Chinese customs and culture with a focus on comparing Eastern and Western traditions to deepen understanding of Chinese and students' own cultural heritage. Offered as an on-campus accelerated course or a hybrid format with online and in-person components, including self-directed learning and on-site experiences in China. Weekly journaling and suggested readings required. Primarily Chinese-medium instruction with English used to support comprehension and facilitate learning. Prerequisite: Acceptance into Semester in Shanghai program or permission of instructor.
